The aim of Pares Ordenados is to prepare undergraduate students with the essential skills required to engage in more advanced mathematics by studying a section of a book or article.
It is not intended to be a research project.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Spanish.
- Be a graduate student in the mathematical sciences, or a recent PhD graduate.
Expectations
Being a mentor in Pares Ordenados involves:
- Collaborate with your mentee to identify a suitable subject to study.
- Spend at least 1 hour per week to prepare the meetings with your mentee.
- Schedule weekly meetings of at least 1 hour with your mentee.
- Assist your mentee in
- writing project abstract halfway the program
- preparing their final project
- preparing the mentee’s final presentation
- Participate in the following events:
- Introduction meeting for the mentors.
- Welcome meeting.
- Panel about Latinx mathematicians around the world.
- Final meeting.
