The aim of Pares Ordenados is to prepare undergraduate students with the essential skills required to engage in more advanced mathematics by studying a section of a book or article.
It is not intended to be a research project.
Requirements
Proficiency in Spanish.
Be a graduate student in the mathematical sciences, or a recent PhD graduate.
Expectations
Being a mentor in Pares Ordenados involves:
Collaborate with your mentee to identify a suitable subject to study.
Spend at least 1 hour per week to prepare the meetings with your mentee.
Schedule weekly meetings of at least 1 hour with your mentee.
Assist your mentee in
writing project abstract halfway the program
preparing their final project
preparing the mentee’s final presentation
Participate in the following events:
Introduction meeting for the mentors.
Welcome meeting.
Panel about Latinx mathematicians around the world.
Final meeting.
